[ He remembers the purpose for the amulets. How could he not? After all that had happened, all he'd done — it would be naive and incredibly stupid to think it would ever leave his mind. Vergil finds himself staring at them as Dante speaks, studying the facets of the jewels, where he thinks there should be grime in the links of the chains.

So familiar. So painfully, achingly familiar.

And yet. ]

You did what?

[ Absorbed the Sparda, the Rebellion, and both amulets. That meant that Dante had it. His half of the amulet, the final shred of Vergil that could not be taken from Nelo Angelo. And Dante had it, the entire time after Mallet Island. As with so many of his belongings, it seems Dante still can't keep his hands off of Vergil's things.

More than that, though. Even more important is the fact he'd apparently asked for a favor, and it leaves a sour taste in his mouth. Vergil narrows his eyes as he looks at Dante, his hand tightening around the amulets.

Nothing in this life is easy. Nothing is painless or freely given, a fact he knows all too well. ]

And just what did this favor cost, Dante?
